iRobot, the global consumer robotics company best known for the Roomba, partnered with IA Interior Architects to reimagine its 200,000-square-foot, multi-building headquarters.

Lighting played a significant role in reinforcing the campus's human-centered design. Rather than relying on uniform overhead illumination, the architectural lighting was carefully integrated to create a warm, inviting atmosphere throughout the various workplace "neighborhoods." Different lighting strategies help define spaces for focused work, collaboration, and social interaction while improving comfort and wayfinding. Decorative fixtures highlight gathering spaces and amenities, while softer ambient lighting supports wellness and creates a more residential feel that contrasts with the highly technical nature of iRobot's work. By using lighting to establish hierarchy, enhance flexibility, and emphasize the identity of each neighborhood, the design contributes to an environment that is both functional and welcoming.
