Lighting Design Workshops

The Interior Design Program in the School of Architecture & Design was pleased to host the Spring Lighting Design Workshop Series, supported by the Nuckolls Fund. This series features professional lighting designers who shared insights into their design processes through real-world practice experiences. The workshops explored a range of sectors, including hospitality, workplace, and healthcare environments.

Hospitality Lighting Design: “A Feeling, A Memory”

A space is defined as much by the feeling it evokes as by its appearance, and hospitality lighting shapes that lasting impression. Begin with the experience you want guests to have; design should account for how social spaces are actually used, not just how they photograph. Illuminate the room and its architecture, but don't forget to light the people who bring it to life.

Presented by Eda Muco, February 23, 2026.

Workplace Lighting Design: “How to satisfy functional needs in the workplace and create memorable spaces with lighting.”

Presented by Molly Bowman, March 09, 2026.

Retail Lighting Design: “Key Objectives of Retail Lighting“

Purpose: attract customers, enhance the shopping experience, drive sales and limit returns by reinforcing the brand, creating a welcoming atmosphere, influencing customer mood, and highlighting products.

Presented by Paula Ziegenbein, March 12, 2026.
